The Surroundings

The villa is located a few steps from the historic center of Volterra and offers a beautiful view of the majestic Medici fortress and the valley of Cecina. San Gimignano, Siena, Florence and the coast are also easily accessible. If you prefer a trip on a mountain bike, walks or on horseback to the nature reserve of Montenero, that is also possible. Or would you rather go to one of the wineries for a wine tasting or visit the Etruscan museum in Volterra.

Volterra celebrates 3000 years of history and cherishes an artistic and architectural heritage that can be admired and appreciated simply by strolling through the narrow streets of the historic center. Volterra has always been and still is a close-knit community, where as children we learned to walk by chasing the pigeons that paraded on the stone pavement of the main square, the Piazza dei Priori. We played hide and seek and hid along the medieval walls and in the Etruscan tombs, went to school in 18th century buildings and prayed in 13th century churches. Today our children play treasure hunt among the paintings of Rosso Fiorentino and Ghirlandaio.

Enjoy one of the most beautiful areas in the world, Tuscany, starting from this special holiday home.

Who We Are

I am Patrizio Giannelli, born and raised in Volterra. I would like to share my love for Volterra and its surroundings. That is why I, together with my colleague Inge Nijkerk, welcome you to stay in one of our beautifully renovated historic buildings, Case d’Epoca. Experience the authenticity of the local culture, traditions and the enchantment of a timeless environment surrounded by untouched nature.

We can help and guide you to explore lesser known sites, discover art, recommend local products and where to admire the local artifacts and see the alabaster workshops. Alabaster is an artistic craft inherent and exclusive to Volterra. The skills and working techniques of the art of alabaster carving have been passed on from generation to generation over the centuries.
